Barb Darrow hates covering funding announcements. I know because she told me so when I was briefing her on a funding announcement. Barb is insightful but not too polite to tell you what you’re doing wrong. Which is why everyone loves working with her.
Barb Darrow covers tech but especially enterprise technology at Fortune.com. She writes with skepticism, humor and insight. She’s also speaking at the GeekWire Cloud Tech Summit on Wednesday in Bellevue.
Here are three things you need to know about Barb Darrow.
- Boston. Loves the Red Sox and Beantown ephemera. Much of her Twitter feed I can’t understand because it’s locals only.
- Experience: InfoWorld, CRN, TechWeb, TechTarget, GigaOM and Fortune. She has won several ASBPE awards for her news coverage.
- Insight. The cloud industry is awash in hype. Barb has been around the enterprise industry long enough that she sees what the cloud generation fails to see. Enterprise customers need partners who will hold their hands and take them to dinner. It’s high touch and takes months or years of relationship building.
Barb’s voice is needed in a world of thin editorial. My PR industry peers know we’re lucky to have Barb cover the category. We’re also lucky she’s coming to the Seattle area on Wednesday.
