AWS and Azure named finalists for the Pentagon’s $10B JEDI cloud contract

The Pentagon narrowed its list of contenders for the $10B cloud contract, removing Oracle and IBM from the list. The business will go to a Seattle-area company, with a slight advantage going to AWS for the work it has already done for the CIA. With the two smaller vendors out of the way, the bake-off can begin in earnest.

First of all, how weird is it that we refer to Oracle and IBM as the smaller vendors. Also, not mentioned in Tom’s article is the inevitable protests, especially from Amazon employees. Should be an interesting summer.
